The Spanish Confederation of Private Centers and Academies (CECAP) is the business Organization representative in Spain of the Non-Official Educational Sector. The educational centers associated with CECAP are joined together through the member Organizations based in all the Autonomy Communities.
CECAP is associated with all types of Unofficial Education and Training businesses (Languages, Civil Service Entrance Exams, Business Schools, Long Distance Education, Job Training, Private Security, Revision Classes, Support or Preparation for the Access to Official Education, amongst other things.).
One of its main aims is to promote and coordinate the activity of its members to improve both the defence of its interests and to offer training to the different centers around the country.
Representation
Its national expansion and the number of associated firms give CECAP the necessary strength to encourage projects for the benefit of the sector and to fight for the resolution of common problems. CECAP is the most representative organization of the sector and it is recognized by the social partners. Among its responsabilities, CECAP deals with the general wages agreement with Trade Unions and with the agreements with employers' organizations or institutions.
The origins of CECAP
To find the origins of CECAP we have to go back to 1988, when several Non-Official Educational Centers from different Spanish provinces, needed to unite to defend their interests. The Spanish Association of Academies was created ,which later became a Federation (FEAP) and due to enormous growth, to the diversification of education and to the reinforcement of its territorial structure, CECAP was created in 1995. Nowadays, with the name of Spanish Confederation of Private Centers and Academies, this organization is the legitimate representative of the Non-Official Education and it is part of CEOE and CEPYME.
Composition and sector
The Confederation is composed of 18 Organizations of autonomous or sectorial character based all over the country.
At teh same time every Federation and Association being member promotes activities for their associated centers with the objective of the best representation, defence and protection of their social economic and professional interests.
CECAP encourages the spirit of cooperation and solidarity among its members and promotes activities for cultural and professional development of the collectivity through seminars, publications, conferences, round-table conferences...
